Our client is growing 35% MoM and focused on the long tail of the market, especially undigitized industries like construction and logistics, with >$1.2T in cardspend annually still up for grabs. 90% of customers come from incumbents like BofA and AmEx.

About the role:

In this dual capacity role, you will helm our client’s legal and compliance departments, providing top-tier counsel and ensuring adherence to all regulatory and legal requirements. Your guidance will be vital in navigating the legal complexities of the fintech industry while fostering a culture of compliance throughout the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the legal and regulatory framework for the company’s operations, ensuring compliance across all functions.
  • Act as the primary legal advisor on all major business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
  • Design and implement an effective compliance program that identifies and mitigates risk, ensuring alignment with financial  regulations.
  • Lead internal audits and investigations, report findings, and recommend remedial actions.
  • Manage the drafting, negotiation, and execution of contracts, ensuring they meet legal, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all regulatory bodies and external legal counsel.
  • Facilitate a company-wide understanding of legal and compliance issues through training and communication.

Desired background:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with current bar admission.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a legal and compliance role within the fintech or financial services sector in the  United States.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the legal and regulatory environment of financial services, including knowledge of consumer lending  laws, payments, and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to lead complex projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of balancing legal/compliance requirements with business objectives.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
