Investment Principal

About the firm

Our client is a $3.5B family office and merchant banking firm that provides tailored financial solutions for select UHNW families. They specialize in investment management, wealth planning, asset purchase advice, trust and estate planning, and tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies. Using their capital pool, deep network and data-centered approach, the firm seeks opportunities that offer value, downside protection, and risk-adjusted returns.

The firm is seeking a highly capable and intellectually curious Investment Principal. This is a senior investment role that spans liquid and private markets, requiring a generalist with the analytical horsepower to underwrite across asset classes and the judgment to act as a trusted advisor to our clients and families. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building a portfolio allocation framework, diligencing a private equity deal, and presenting investment recommendations to sophisticated ultra-high-net-worth families.

About the role

Responsibilities:

  • Construct and manage holistic, custom asset allocations based on client-specific risk profiles.
  • Underwrite and monitor liquid and semi-liquid instruments across domestic and international markets.
  • Selectively evaluate single-name equity and debt opportunities on a client-driven basis.
  • Monitor client accounts daily via Addepar and Orion, and maintain a morning cash tracker for relevant clients.
  • Prepare performance reporting including quarterly portfolio bridges, mortgage performance analyses, and client portfolio reviews.
  • Review and underwrite new direct investment opportunities for clients and the firm across PE, real estate, and VC.
  • Work through CIMs and data rooms, generate internal deal memos and presentations, and pitch investment opportunities to clients.
  • Prepare trustee presentation materials and support ongoing trustee relationship management.
  • Contribute to the development of the firm's five-year strategic plan.
  • Partner with firm leadership on internal initiatives as the business continues to grow.

Desired Background:

  • 7-12 years of experience in investment management, private equity, family office, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to underwrite across both public and private markets with strong fundamental analytical skills.
  • Experience building asset allocation frameworks and advising sophisticated, high-net-worth clients
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Addepar and comfort with investment reporting and performance attribution.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and ability to work through complex legal and investment documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present clearly to clients and senior stakeholders.
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity, professional maturity, and discretion.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a lean, entrepreneurial environment and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
